Enrollments

After your placement at the Técnico, your first step is to enroll. Otherwise, you will lose your place. To find out more about how to complete your enrollment, consult the pages:

NEW STUDENTS | FIRST STEPS
CREDIT TRANSFER

After enrolling, if you have previously attended a 1st cycle course, you can apply for Credit Transfer Request (equivalents) for the completed Curricular Units. To do so, you must submit the required documents to the Graduate Area and pay the emolument.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION (Credit Transfer)
ABANDONED ENROLLMENT AND READMISSION

Failure to enroll in curricular units in two consecutive semesters will result in the expiration of enrolment as a Técnico student, and the registration will be considered abandoned, and it is necessary to submit a re-register at Técnico at the Graduate Area when you want to come back.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION (Readmission)

Note: This process is often confused with a “enrollment freeze,” which does not exist at Técnico.

Registrations

At the beginning of each semester (except for 1st Cycle, 1st Year, 1st Time students), it is necessary for you to enroll in the subjects for that semester, as well as in the schedules, using the Fénix system.

You can check the registration periods at Academic Deadlines Calendar.

Elective Courses

In more advanced years of the course, you have the possibility to choose some Elective Courses, either from a list of options defined by the Coordination of your course or a discipline of any Técnico or ULisboa course, if the curricular plan of your course allows it (Free Option). Enrollment in this type of UC requires prior authorization from the Course Coordination.

The enrollment process in these UC varies from course to course, and can be done at Fénix or at the secretariat that supports the Coordination of your course.

COURSE UNITS OF HUMANITIES, ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

In order to include a humanist, artistic and social component in your academic career, you will have the opportunity to attend Curricular Units linked to these same areas. This component is transversal to all 1st cycle courses. Know more here.

DISSERTATION

The last Curricular Unit of the Master’s Degree is the Dissertation, which can be developed at Técnico or abroad. There is a set of topics in your area, which you can apply for at Fénix (Student -> Finalists -> Dissertation/Project Application) months before the start of your thesis. If you want to propose your own theme, you should contact a professor in the area to guide you.

Before starting your thesis, you must enroll in the UC Dissertation, just as you enroll every semester in the other disciplines, at Fénix.

There are specific norms defined by each Course Coordination that foresee the minimum number of ECTS approved and necessary for enrollment in the Dissertation and the maximum number of ECTS from other Course Units in which a student can be enrolled in accumulation.

GRADE IMPROVEMENT

If you want to improve the classification of a subject, you have an opportunity to do so within two academic semesters after the one in which you obtained approval or equivalence.

To enroll, you must submit an application for this purpose to the Graduate Area, paying the fee (€10 per UC). You can consult the registration periods in the Calendar of Academic Deadlines.

SPECIAL SEASON

The existence of a special season has the main purpose of allowing final year students who lack a limited number of curricular units to complete their course.

Each student can only register for the exam in a set of curricular units that does not exceed 15 ECTS.

You will only be able to have access to exams in the Special Season of Curricular Units in which you are regularly enrolled in the academic year.

Enrollment in Fénix within the period defined in the Calendar of Academic Deadlines.

In addition to finalists, other groups of students also have access to the Special Season. Consult them at:

SPECIAL SEASON

Tuition Fees

Whenever you enroll in Curricular Units, the corresponding fee is generated, according to your study cycle and the tuition fee regime in which you find yourself.

INTEGRATED REGIME

By default, a full tuition fee regime is assigned, that is, corresponding to the entire school year. You can consult the values set for each course in the Academic Guide.

TUITION FEES
PARTIAL REGIME

In this regime, the full tuition fee is not due, and you can enroll in Curricular Units whose sum of annual ECTS does not exceed 50% of the maximum number of ECTS that is allowed to enroll on a full-time basis. Thus, registration is allowed for a total of 42 ECTS/year.

To change to this regime, you will have to submit an application for this purpose to the Undergraduate Area, with the fee calculation formula being:

Tuition Fee = 0,4 x P x (1 + IECTS/60)

  • P– value of the annual tuition fee for the course in which the student enrolls
  • IECTS– The sum of the number of ECTS of the curricular units to which the student enrolls, which is limited to 42ECTS

PAYMENT

In addition to the tuition fee, it is also necessary to pay the school insurance and the secretarial fee at the beginning of each school year. Payment can be made in the following ways:

  • Bank Transfer, using the references indicated in Fénix (Personal -> Debts and Payments);
  • MBWay, following the instructions from Fénix (Personal -> Debts and Payments);
  • ATM (with card), at the service desk of the Undergraduate Area;

Course Ending

When you finish a study cycle and all your notes are posted on the transcript at the Graduate Area (you can consult the deadlines for posting notes for each semester in the Calendar of Academic Deadlines), you can ask for your course to be cleared, as well as documents that prove it.

Certificate of Registration

The Registration Certificate proves the academic degree you have completed at the University of Lisbon and will be the first document you will have to request from the Graduate Area, paying the corresponding fee.

This document is issued by the Rectory of ULisboa, and the 1st copy may take a few months, and can be requested in Portuguese and English.

It is accompanied by a Diploma Supplement that registers the extra-curricular activities recognized by Técnico in which you participated during the period corresponding to your study cycle. You can register up to 5 activities, and if you have carried out the same task over several years/terms/editions, you will not have to indicate 1 for each year/terms/edition. (Example: I was a Year Delegate in my 1st, 2nd and 3rd Years. This student can simply indicate: Year Delegate in school years X, Y and Z.). Consult the activities recognized in the Diploma Supplement at:

DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT
COURSE END CERTIFICATES

Course End Certificates are issued by Técnico and may have the average or grades of all the CUs you attended broken down. It is also requested from the Graduate Area with the Degree Registration Application.

School Insurance

All students enrolled and enrolled in a Técnico course are covered by the school insurance, which is extended to students in mobility programmes, as long as their payment is up to date.

Activate Insurance

Submit the Personal Accident Claim Form to the insurer, after being validated by a Technical Person in the Graduate Area.

This document must be accompanied by a medical certificate that may be in the model indicated on the second page of the document itself or a certificate issued by the health care unit to which the student went.
