PlasmaSurf 2015 Summer Course
The third edition of PlasmaSurf will take place from 12 to 17 July close to Oeiras, Portugal.
This summer school is a short training course covering the basic aspects on plasma physics and related science topics. It is specifically tailored for engineering and physics students aiming at complementing their education at the PhD level in plasma physics, high power lasers or nuclear fusion.
Celebrating the 2015 International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies, this year we will have a special edition with a stronger focus on the interplay between light, lasers and plasmas!
Major topics to be covered include:
– Introduction to plasma physics
– Magnetic and inertial nuclear fusion
– High power and ultrashort lasers
– Large international experiments involving plasma science
The course will include a tour of the ISTTOK Tokamak and the Laboratory for Intense Lasers.
A major goal of the course is to promote a lively interaction among students and lecturers between the sessions, visits and lunch time. The accommodation cost during the course and workdays breakfast + lunch will be covered by IST. Please note that no funds are available for travel expenses except for local activities.
